Kujukuri Area

Kujukuri Beach

Kujukuri Beach stretches for more than 66 km in the eastern part of the Boso Peninsula. The spectacular white sandy beach and deep-green pines that continue in an arch are magnificent. This area is mild and there are many good places for swimming. Many young people gather here through out the year as it is one of the best surfing spots in the Kanto region. Dragnet fishing is a common activity favored by local fishermen.

Hasunuma Marine Park (Hasunuma Town)

This is a huge prefectural urban park located along kujukuri-hama. Sports facilities such as athletic gardens and tennis courts, and other attractions such as go-carts and bumper cars can also be found here. In addition, there are thirteen swimming pools with themes such as swamps, swift currents and shallows. In the park, cycling routes have been improved so that visitors can travel using rental bicycles.

Mobara Tanabata Festival (Mobara City)

This famous Tanabata festival is held mainly at the shopping districts in the city. There are many enjoyable events such as animated Mobara dancing and magnificent parades such as the Miss Tanabata parade, which attracts much public attention.

Himeharu no Sato Park (Mobara City)

Himeharu no Sato extends over a vast area and is known for its natural geography. It is a paradise of flowers, plants and birds; where you can enjoy beautiful flowers such as cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, Japanese bush clovers and sasanqua all year-round. Tropical flowers bloom throughout the greenhouse, while flamingos and crowned cranes play with birds of paradise, creating a tropical atmosphere.

Kasamori Kannon (Chonan Town)

Kasamori Temple was founded in 784, and is known as the 31st holy temple among the 33 holy grounds of Bando. This important cultural asset, supported by 61 pillars of various lengths and dedicated to Kannon (Goddess of Mercy), is a rare sight even in Japan. The temple is also known for housing a haiku monument composed by the famous haiku poet Matsuo Basho.

Kosai Temple Kiraigo Play (Hikari Town)

Kiraigo is a rare Buddhist play which has been performed by Kosai Temple since the olden days. The story is about teachings for retributive justice in the universe, where the souls of the dead who suffer in hell were saved through the mercy of Jizo and bodhisattvas (Buddhist saints), who eventually reach a state of peace. The play is performed by the local people.

Futaba Corporation (Mobara City)

This is an electronics parts and equipment manufacturer with a proud tradition as the world's number one producer and achiever in radio controlled devices. The actual site includes the head office, plants, and a research and development institute. In addition to radio controlled devices, business has diversified into the manufacture and sale of parts for fluorescent displays and press metal molds, which has helped to broaden the company's base not only inside Japan but overseas as well.

Moriya Shuzo (Hasunuma Town)

This company manufactures kujukuri's local sake Naniwamori. When you visit, you can compare the old cellars with the latest new facilities. Taking a moment to enjoy a lively chat while sampling some sake is a good opportunity to experience Japanese traditional culture. Concerts and exhibits are also featured.
