Incorporated Special Program includes Chiba City Museum of Art and Japanese Summer Festival-themed Reception at Mihamaen Japanese Garden

The 9th International Discussion Meeting on Relaxations in Complex Systems (9IDMRCS) will be hosted for the first time in Japan at Makuhari Messe from August 12 to August 18, 2023. Various special programs reflecting the ‘Chiba experience’ will be implemented as part of the Chiba Convention Bureau's support and assistance. Offering a new program that allows participants to enjoy unique elements such as Chiba-exclusive venues will assist us in improving related programs essential to welcoming such events in the future.

■ Special Program

1. Special Program at Chiba City Museum of Arts
Date Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 9:00-14:00
Venue Chiba City Museum of Art (Chiba City)
Overview The program includes an exhibition tour featuring Ukiyo-e lead by the museum’s director, and a hands-on woodblock print experience. A demonstration of traditional sushi and Chiba’s local cuisine, futomaki-sushi or thick-rolled sushi, to be performed by a professional sushi chef, will be held. The demonstration will be held at the museum’s auditorium, which is one of the ‘unique’ venues in Chiba.

2. Banquet Dinner at Mihama-en Japanese Garden
Date Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 18:00-20:00
Venue Mihama-en Japanese Garden (Chiba City)
Overview Mihama-en Japanese Garden, one of Chiba's 'special’ sites, will host the event. Guests will enjoy many summer elements at this magnificent park, beginning with a maiko (geisha apprentice) appearance at the gate, several food vendors, and cultural events. As part of the region's support of the SDGs, the event will feature different sustainable practices such as local production for local consumption, waste reduction, and more.
