Chiba to host the 27th International Congress on Acoustics (ICA2031)
World-leading acoustics conference to bring 1,300 participants from over 50 countries to Makuhari Messe
The Chiba Convention Bureau and International Center (CCB-IC) is pleased to announce that Chiba, Japan, has been selected to host the 27th International Congress on Acoustics (ICA2031), one of the world’s most prestigious international conferences in the field of acoustics.
Expected to attract approximately 1,300 participants from more than 50 countries, including around 1,000 international delegates, ICA2031 will take place from September 7 (Sunday) to 12 (Friday), 2031, at Makuhari Messe International Conference Hall in Chiba City.

The International Congress on Acoustics (ICA) is a globally recognized conference covering a broad range of topics, from physical acoustics to environmental and applied acoustics. Organized every three years in different host countries, ICA serves as a vital platform for sharing the latest research and technological innovations, as well as for fostering collaboration among scientists, engineers, and professionals worldwide.
The upcoming ICA2031 will mark the third time the congress is held in Japan, following Tokyo (1968) and Kyoto (2004), underscoring Japan’s long-standing contribution to the global acoustics community.
The congress is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of 346 million yen within Chiba Prefecture.

■Collaboration and Support
The successful bid for ICA2031 was the result of a collaborative effort between the Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ), Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Chiba Prefecture, Chiba City, Makuhari Messe, and CCB-IC.
As part of its ongoing mission to attract and support international conferences and other MICE* events, CCB-IC will provide comprehensive assistance before and during the congress, including:
• Support for bid documentation and proposal materials
• Issuance of official invitation letters from the Mayor of Chiba City, Makuhari Messe, and CCB-IC
• Financial assistance through international conference subsidies
• Provision of promotional materials such as the “Chiba MICE PR Video” (planned)
• Coordination of convention volunteers and local sightseeing programs (planned)
• Public relations and media support (planned)
• Assistance with cultural performances and Japanese cultural experiences during the reception (planned)
