Chiba participated in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

Chiba participated in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, from August 26 to 31, 2025, to promote Chiba as a ‘fermentation prefecture’ through an exhibition that showcased top local fermented products, including soy sauce and mirin. The exhibition aimed to establish the appeal of fermented commodities to both domestic and foreign markets.

The exhibit featured panels showcasing the history, techniques, and industries of fermentation culture across the prefecture, including soy sauce and mirin, which boast the highest production volumes in the country. Visitors also enjoyed shaved ice made with mirin, meat pasta prepared using rice koji fermentation, and tastings of Chiba-produced rice wine. In conjunction with the Chiba Prefecture booth, an event was held at Hankyu Department Store in Osaka, where visitors could sample Chiba's fine sake along with other local specialties.

The Chiba Convention Bureau was also present during these events. During the stay, the group also had a chance to visit various MICE facilities and reunite with other convention bureaus. While bureaus across Japan are considered rivals in terms of promoting ‘destination,’ they agreed that cooperation among them could increase the number of Japan inbound conferences, thereby expanding opportunities for the various convention bureaus.

In order to win the global competition, therefore needed to enhance solidarity in promoting the best of Japan as a whole. That, while also being mindful of the horizontal connections with fellow convention bureaus across the region, that makes the true essence of Japan the most suitable hosting event destination.
