Narita Airport Deployed Security Robots
The 1.2-meter high wheeled robots equipped with 360-degree surveillance camera, heat and metal sensor, and detector are capable of examining trash bin using its extending arms, detect heat and transmit message to the central monitoring room. The operation started on June 3 of this year, –the very first time that such a security robot will be used at Japanese airport, according to operators.
Narita Airport expects influx of inbound travelers destined for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. By utilization of robot technology to carry out security and surveillance operations is one of initiatives to enhance security given the expected increase of visitors in the coming days.
